Summer is officially here and I know everyone is staying busy. Keeping that in mind, here are some quick updates on what Kentucky Land Title has been up to the last month.
The Secretary of State submitted the final version of Senate Bill 114 (2019) as it relates to KRS chapter 423 to the regulatory review office. (See full document here) Several changes were made by the Secretary of State after the comment period; if you have any feedback, please let me know.
The legislative committee had a productive call in early June to start planning for the 2021 legislative session. We do plan to resurface our bills that were derailed due to COVID and we discussed some other priorities. More information will be shared as our committee progresses through the summer months.
I am proud to report that our PAC was able to make its first ever contribution. Legislative members John Williams, Barry Tuemler, Brent Eisele along with our lobbyist, Matt Niehaus, played in the Senate Majority Caucus fundraiser. This type of event allows KYLTA to strengthen our relationships in Frankfort and we hope to be able to participate in another fundraiser this fall. Thank you to all who have contributed to our PAC!

And finally, three of our very own members were elected as officers for the 2020-2021 Real Property Law Section of the Kentucky Bar Association. If you see Branden Gross (Chair), Eric Case (Chair-Elect) and Richard Hornung (Vice Chair), tell them congrats!
I sincerely hope you are able to take some time to relax over the summer. We have all earned it!
